Spinal trauma is damage to the spinal cord that occurs as a result of an accident. It usually accompanies with vertebral fractures.
Often, a traumatic impact to the spine results in one or more of the spine's bones being fractured, dislocated, crushed, or compressed, which results in a traumatic spinal cord injury (vertebrae). Alternatively, a penetrating injury that slices the spinal cord, such as a gunshot wound, maybe the cause of this condition.
